The Mérens horse go back to the dawn of time and has passed through the ages. Its image appears drawn on the walls of the Niaux cave, it pulled Napoleon's canons during the Russian campaign. This small, rustic horse with its origins in Ariège as retained its allure and strengths up to the present day.
The Mérens horse is rustic and above all versatile. It shines in the Trec (second in the 1998 European championship), the harness, trekking, trick riding and farm work.
Its potential for use is unlimited, with an assurance and calm appreciated by all. Its patience and sure-footedness in the mountains makes it a horse that can win over anyone: a child, an adult who loves wilderness riding, a rider wishing to resume riding after an accident.
Mérens are found today in England (belonging to Tony Blair), Italy, Germany, Tunisia, India, Réunion, etc.
